Sweet Little Crocheted Violets

Posted by Trudy on March 11, 2010 at 5:21 PM

These little violets are quick and easy to make.

I made this one with #5 pearl cotton and a #4 steel crochet hook to decorate a baby sweater.  It's about 1" in diameter.  You could make them larger or smaller by using different weights of yarn weights and needle sizes.  The first round could be done in yellow to form a center.  I plan to sew the flowers to the sweater with french knots in yellow embroidery thread, so I didn't bother with changing colors.

Rnd 1:  Ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd chain from hook, join with a slip stitch in first sc.

Rnd 2:  (Ch 3, 2 tr, ch 3) in same st as joining, (slip stitch, ch3, 2 tr, ch 3) in next 3 sc, (ch 3, 2 tr, ch 3) in last sc, slip stitch in st at base of first ch 3.  Fasten off.
